So today something magical happened: WE WENT TO THE KITTY CAFE! For those who do not know, I absolutely love cats! And since I lost my cat Stripes this summer, I was especially keen on visiting the kitty cafe and petting some cats. The Kitty Cafe is a cat rescue cafe where patrons dine surrounded by cat decor and real live cats! The cats are all rescue cats looking for new homes. If a patron sees a cat they "feel a particular connection with", he or she can adopt one of the cats from the cafe. Customers book hour long sessions in the cafe and can order tea, coffee, cakes, sandwiches, and other light fare. While there, customers can roam throughout the entire cafe and pet. play with, and overall enjoy the cats and kittens. I loved how the cats were able to climb above the cafe-goers on platforms painted as trees. One little kitten got stuck and had to be helped down by a cat manager whose job it is to train and oversee the cats. Sounds like my dream job if teaching falls through! Needless to say, I LOVED the Kitty Cafe and plan on returning at least a few more times throughout my stay here in Nottingham. Will and I entertained the though of opening a Catfe and Pupfe (Puppy Cafe) somewhere on campus but decided the U.S. Health Department wouldn't be as excited about eating food around cats and puppies as we were...
